This new cherry OP variety is a beauty! Ripe fruit is bright orange/red with subtle gold striping. During ripening the fruit transition through a translucent striped orange phase. Brix score in 2017 was 8.0, flavor is fruity. Flavor is excellent at both ripening stages, providing some shelf life benefits. Fruiting is early on an indeterminate vine. Very good plant health and fruit quality in both open field and greenhouse trials.
Tropical Sunset is an OP variety, seed is distributed by A.P. Whaley Seed Company and available from several retail distributors starting December 2018.
